How To?

Use a Washcloth

You can simply clean the outside of your ears by using a washcloth. Tug on your earlobes and gently wipe the area with a damp cloth.

Use OTCs

You can purchase  OTC/over-the-counter ear drops that soften the debris. They usually come in a solution. They are usually made of:

  • Baby oil
  • Glycerin
  • Mineral oil
  • Peroxide
  • Saline
  • Hydrogen peroxide

add the prescribed number of drops into the ear you wish to clean up. Wait for a few minutes before rinsing the solution out. Remember to always read and follow the guidelines for usage as mentioned on the package.

Syringe

Are you wondering how to unclog ears? Another simple way to clean your ears is by adding moisture to your inner ear. This can be done by making use of a syringe. In this method, you will carefully rinse your ear canal by using a saline or aqueous solution.

This method proves to be more effective if you add some drops of OTC solution. Add the drops about 15 to 30 minutes before irrigating your ear with a syringe for better results. Do not forget to warm the solution to suit your body temperature and keep away dizziness.

  1. Cotton swabs: Using q grips or q tip cotton swabs or any other tiny pointed objects inside your ear is extremely risky. Do not plan to use them to clean your ears.
  2. Hydrogen peroxide: It can worsen your situation. If the problem is not a serious ear wax blockage, we recommend you stay away from peroxide.
  3. Ear candles: Studies show that ear candles are not effective in cleaning ears, but may  cause injury. These hollow objects need to be inserted into the ear canal. Then you need to light them up at the other end. However they may burn and pierce your inner ear. Therefore, it is advised to keep away from such candles.
